Secretary General

Humanity has witnessed the fiercest battles solely because of the love of power operating through greed and personal ambition. This greed has kept the mirror of rectification shattered, refraining us from making the right choices. In the words of Martin Luther King Jr., “Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.” The foundation of the United Nations was laid on a similar cornerstone. Our forefathers had instilled faith in us and had seen all of us as a ray of hope. As the youth of this planet, we shoulder a humongous responsibility to reinstate peace and prosperity, and ultimately shape its future.
Humanity is arising from an unprecedented crisis. We all are facing some uncertain consequences of a pandemic that has engulfed the entire human race into the shackles of sorrow and despair. Numerous other challenges are waiting at our doorstep. But let me remind you all that the glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fail. I am confident enough that with all our collective efforts and perseverance, we all will overcome these challenges and continue to be the beacon of light for future generations. Just as a tiny seed emerges into a huge tree making its way from far beneath the earth, just as a small wick of the candle is enough to eradicate darkness and enlighten the entire room, just as the phoenix burns to rise from its ashes, we all are required to overcome every hurdle and keep invading the sky with the wings of fire. If you don’t spread your wings, you will never discover how far you can fly!
Former Secretary General of the United Nations, His Excellency, Mr. Kofi Annan has rightly encapsulated the essence of understanding our purpose by saying, “To live is to choose. But to choose well, you must know who you are and what you stand for, where you want to go and why you want to go there.” VIT Pune MUN has left no stone unturned in making individuals realize the importance of bringing a change through debates, and discussions. For the past six years, we have delivered amazing experiences and I am more than honored to receive the opportunity to continue the legacy of this resplendent conference. Being a part of a team that consists of young, capable minds and paralleling their abilities has always been a driving force for me. Behind this conference, there are emotions, there is a team spirit and there is an ethos that collectively keeps us motivated in this process. We are a conference that allows every single individual to speak up for the most pressing issues across the globe, a conference that embodies the spirit of hope for a better tomorrow, a conference of change!
This conference would not have become possible without the sheer efforts of every member of the Secretariat and the Organising Committee. My heart permeates with immense pride while I highlight the efforts of the entire team in shaping this conference. In pursuit of making this conference better, we all have become better versions of ourselves. I am certain that these efforts will, in every possible way, enlighten the path of hundreds and thousands of future leaders of tomorrow.
With that being said, it is my distinct honor to welcome you all to the seventh edition of VIT Pune MUN, which will be nothing but an absolute blend of perseverance, hope, and willingness to see a better tomorrow!
